My Story

Born to Guyanese immigrants who sought a brighter future in America, I am their eldest child, proudly raised in Queens, NY. Like many others, I initially aimed to make my parents proud by pursuing pre-med or pharmacy. While I loved the idea of healing people, I realized that becoming a doctor wasn't the path for me.

I explored psychology courses and was drawn to the potential of healing others through this discipline. The attraction was deeply personal: whenever others confided in me, I felt frustrated at not knowing how to navigate these conversations or what to say. This feeling of helplessness, combined with my struggles with depression and a sense of isolation due to cultural misunderstandings, led me down the path of becoming a therapist.

Ironically, my journey to self-discovery didn't truly begin until I started my career in counseling. I began to understand how my thought patterns, behaviors, beliefs, and relationships impacted me. The more I learned about the root of my pain, the more clarity I gained. This deeper understanding helped me develop greater love and respect for myself, improve my relationships, set healthier boundaries, and make choices that feel right. I acknowledge that growth is a lifelong journey, but I embrace it wholeheartedly.

Outside of my professional life, I am an avid reader, a fervent anime fan, and a passionate traveler, aiming to explore 100 countries in my lifetime. My pet bird, Prince, is a cherished companion. Don't be surprised if you spot him in our sessions from time to time.
